A Girl and Her Dog

Kara's doing well in her 10th week.  She seems to enjoy "tummy time" more and is warming up to the idea of sitting (still a long way off from doing it on her own).  She likes bein' naked and listening to music (Jazz, Irish folk, classical) while exploring her world.  She's a funny girl, and still doesn't know what to think of the big, stinky, hairy animal (George, not Daddy ;))!

Here's some video of Kara rolling over. It's about the only thing she does. :-)

Visit from Miss Heather

Miss Heather came up from Georgia to visit and meet Kara this weekend. It was an event filled weekend with some drooling spit-up, Kara's first outing to a restaurant, and a very, very messy diaper incident.

Shots and the Roll-Over

Kara continues to grow bigger and bigger. We recently took her to the doctor's office for her two-month checkup. As part of that checkup, Kara got her first series of vaccinations. Lee Ann had to hold the poor little girl while the nurse gave her the shots. She was cooing and smiling at Lee Ann as the shots began. The smiles quickly disappeared, and before long, both Lee Ann and Kara were bawling and had tears rolling down their cheeks! At two months, Kara weighed in at 10 lbs, 3 oz. She's growing so fast!

Today (at 9-weeks old), we had the roll-over. During the morning "Tummy Time", Kara surprised her mother by pushing herself way higher than ever before. A moment later, Kara was on her back looking at Lee Ann and wondering how she got there! Lee Ann didn't think anyone would believe her, so she took lots of pictures and even got video. :-) Click on the slideshow below to see all the pictures.

The Zoolander

Kara has become quite the smiler these days. She particularly likes to smile during diaper changes.  We're pretty sure that she thinks it's funny that we have to clean up her poop. I gotta say, the smile makes up for the dirty diapers, the spit ups, the screaming, and the late-night feedings.

Kara's starting to develop her personality. She coos at us and makes happy noises when we do something she likes and makes her opinion known when we do something she doesn't like. Oh, she sure can scream. It's a good thing she's so cute...

6 Weeks Old!

The first six weeks have been quite an adventure. Kara's getting stronger and more aware every day.  She's already starting to grow out of her new born outfits!  She's cooing at us, but we haven't gotten a smile out of her quite yet.  Lee Ann and Tyler have been very fortunate to have gotten so much help so far, and we are very thankful.
